Job Summary

Atlantis is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join our animal health team in the role of Veterinarian. This position reports directly to the Vice President, and helps provide the highest level of care to our entire animal collection. Experience in preventative medicine, nutrition, diagnostic imaging techniques, microbiology, quarantine techniques, rescue and rehabilitation, and proper husbandry are essential. Experience with research and manuscript publication is preferred. A good work ethic and ability to work as a part of a large, dynamic team is a must.
The animal health team is responsible for providing health care to bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, birds, sea turtles, sharks, rays and fish housed at Atlantis. The Veterinarian will lead the health care of all animals in the collection, and will develop SOPs, and establish and implement an effective preventative care program that includes, nutrition, quarantine, and reproduction. They will participate in employee training and development for laboratory and training staff, and will conduct diagnostic postmortem examinations

Requirements

Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited institution or completion of Foreign National Boards
Must hold and maintain a valid veterinary license
Meet the requirements for registration as a veterinarian in the Bahamas under the provisions of section 5 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act
Minimum of 3 years¿ experience as a DVM in veterinary medicine and experience with non-domestic species preferred (Marine mammal and fish experience highly desirable).
ACZM diplomat status or board eligibility is highly desirable
Scuba Certification and CPR training desired
Strong leadership, time management, problem analysis/solving and interpersonal skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality
