The incumbent will achieve Company objectives by:

• Ensuring security & efficiency of IT infrastructure
• Installing and configuring software and hardware
• Managing the acquisition, infrastructure and maintenance of the organization’s Local Area Network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) in New Providence and Family Islands
• Managing performance and maintaining security of all corporate and networking resources
• Designing cabling structures for new computer network installations and upgrades
• Establishing policies and procedures for data backup and integrity
• Monitoring network performance and reliability of network infrastructure on multiple platforms
• Evaluating new technology advances for incorporation within the organization
• Establishing networking standards for both Local Area Network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN)
• Chairing/ participating on committees for both IT and non-IT issues
• Overseeing the successful operations and expansion of the telephone network
• Participating on planning committees to establish technical architecture for corporate computing and telephony environment
• Participate with developing organizational policies and procedures for hardware and software acquisition and use
• Managing human resources to ensure proper resolution to user problems
• Remaining current with information technology developments
• Providing monthly reports to the Manager- Information Technology Services
• Backup of Server, Database, Storage Area Networks and other Equipment
• Upgrading systems and devices with new releases and models
• Ensuring security through access controls, backups and firewalls
• Troubleshooting issues and documenting outages
• Monitoring performance and maintaining systems according to requirements
• Developing expertise to train staff on new technologies
• Building an internal knowledge with technical documentation manuals and IT policies
• Setting up accounts and workstations
• Managing network servers, network storage and other network equipment

Requirements include but not limited to:

• A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering Technology or equivalent qualifications
• Requires 5+ years of computer experience in both Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) environment and related operations
• Sound working knowledge of NT Operating, Novell Operating and Digital Operating (VAX) system
• Sound working knowledge of fiber optic design and installation
• Design and installation knowledge of category 5 structures cabling system
• Ability to interpret technical installation document
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Sound knowledge of the computer industry
