Manager, Securities

Job Description

The Bank of Nova Scotia Trust Company (Bahamas) Limited is seeking the services of a Manager Securities.

Position Summary:

The Manager, Securities is responsible for leading a team of Senior Operations Officers (QI, Securities Lending, Settlements & Corporate Actions) in the coordination and management of administrative and technical support to the company in a manner consistent with Scotiatrust’s service standards and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for fostering a relationship driven service culture and deepening and strengthening the connectivity of relationships with the

company’s custodial accounts. He/she is also required to establish and maintain relationships with high net worth custodial relationships as well as centers of influence and maximizing the growth of highly regarded business. The incumbent will also be responsible for the personal/career development and building of leadership capacity o’ a team of 7 – 10 individuals.

 

Key Accountabilities for this role:

  • Relationship Management: Maintain ongoing hip standard of relationship management (in conjunction with Director Operations) of ultra high net worth custodial client relationship.
  • Project Management: Provide relevant solutions to International Wealth Structures, Relationship Associates and other stakeholders on matters related to Custodial Services.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate independence on a day-to-day basis by providing expert direction to their team on the servicing of assigned accounts and contribute to the development of team members by providing training, guidance, technical mentoring and counsel as required.
  • Securities Lending & Borrowing: Ensures effective compliance, documentation and administration of the Securities Lending Program/Bond Lending Program for the company and relationships.
  • Qualified Intermediary: Effective compliance and adherence to controls and procedures for the QI process.
  • Systems and Procedures: Responsible for custody of instruments and settlement of transactions. Administers the relevant testing and updates to EUCLID/ADP/ACCESS system programs.
  • Operations and Compliance: Contributes to the effective operation of the team by ensuring compliance at all times with internal procedures, policies and practices. Meet Regulatory Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing and Bank Policies and procedures for Customer transactions.

 

Functional Competencies:

  • The Manager, Securities must have the ability to communicate confidently, effectively and diplomatically at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • He/she should have a good understanding of global custodian markets, general knowledge of global investment markets and possess a working knowledge of various investment vehicles. The individual should be able to exercise sound professional judgment when dealing with brokers and custodians.
  • The Manager, Securities must have strong organizational and managerial skills in order to direct and coordinate staff workload, to prioritize tasks and elicit a high level of productivity from team members enabling them to meet objectives within required timelines.

 

Educational Requirements:

  • University degree (preferably in Banking or Finance).
  • 5 10 years of experience in the area of Securities/Operations and related functions.
  • At least 5 years practical experience dealing with the management of custodial relationships.
  • Series 7 (or equivalent designation) would be an asset
  • STEP Designation would be an asset
